At Sea Activity

At Sea Activity!
Intro: A brief summary of the activity.
-The thing that we did in this activity was we gathered a list of materials. We were told to organize these materials in a list that we found most important. We also had a group to talk to about what we found to be best and worst.

  • Personal Prioritization: List your prioritization of the items. Share your reasoning on your top 2 picks and your bottom choice. Were there any items you had a hard time choosing a ranking for?

  • -My top pick was the shaving mirror, because it could serve as a reflection device for savior. My second choice was water, because you need it to survive and is useful for staying hydrated.

-My two bottom choices were the alcohol, and the chocolate bars. My reasoning on these were that the alcohol would dehydrate you, and the chocolate bars were candy, that is not good for your body, and could make you more thirsty.

  • Team Prioritization: What priority did your team agree on? Talk about an item the group ranked similarly to you. What was something the group ranked far differently than you? What was something you and the group ranked similarly? How did your group work together?

  • -Both me and my group agreed that the water and the shaving miror would b ranked as numbers 1 and 2. But something that was ranked considerably differently for me was the chocolate, they said that if they were dying they wanted some chocolate to chow on.

-We both ranked the fishing kit at about number 5, since it wasnt that important, but its not like it was a waste of time.

-Overall, me and my group worked well together, we came to a team concensus that we could all agree on.

  • Expert Prioritization: How did your choices compare to the "official" Coastguard choices? Were there any big surprises between the two? What do you put more weight in, expert opinion or experiential data? Why?-Our team was really far off from the expert choices. The experts were more concerned about getting us rescued, so they put the oil up at the start of the list.

  • -I would actually probably put for weight in the experiemental data instead of the coast guards data, considering they are only concerned about how easy it is for them to rescue someone.
